ไฟร์ฟ็อกซ์ 3.1 เบต้า 1 ออกแล้ว มีคุณลักษณะใหม่คือ

  • Geolocation ตำแหน่งพิกัดของเบราว์เซอร์ (?ดูจากไอพี?)
  • CSS "@font-face" property สามารถระบุ URI ของ truetype font (src="http://.....") ที่ใช้ในเอกสารได้ เหมือนเป็นการ embed font ลงไปในเอกสาร; ใช้ได้กับ Windows กับ Mac ส่วนลินุกซ์ รอรุ่น 3.1 final
  • tag ชื่อ <video> และ <audio> สนับสนุนพหุสื่อในรูปแบบ OGG Theora และ OGG Vorbis
  • XHR Process Notification แสดงสถานะของ XML HTTP Request (ใช้มากใน AJAX) ว่ากำลังทำอะไรอยู่
  • XHR Cross-site Access Control ควบคุมการทำงานร่วมกันโดยเครื่องแม่ข่ายจากหลายโดเมน เช่นพวกเก็บสถิติ หรือโฆษณา ฯลฯ
  • TraceMonkey ซึ่งเป็น JavaScript engine ตัวใหม่(เร็ว) ซึ่งถ้าอยากจะใช้ เปิด about:config แล้วตั้ง javascript.options.jit.content เป็น True จากนั้นก็ restart เบราว์เซอร์ (ข่าวเก่า)
  • มีคุณลักษณะอื่นอีก แต่ข่าวไม่บอกว่าอะไร ให้รอดูในเบต้า 2
