This forum is for discuss on (almost) everything you want to. The only thing you should know is Blognone uses Markdown as default input format. Please see the instruction manual from the link if you’ve never heard of Markdown before. Anyway, HTML is also selectable in the input format tab under the textbox.

The bottom line is dont you all think that the transparent proxies used by ISPs here is doing more damage than good?

Best Laptop for Linux
Submitted by lew on 23 June, 2008 - 00:53. tags:From sajalkayan’s topic, he’s looking for a notebook that no pre-installed with Windows. For myself, I have another problem for most laptop I bought weren’t preinstalled with any OS. But after I install linux on them, I always faced with various problem like:
- Audio not working at all.
- Headphone jack sensing not working
- ACPI (Sleep/Hibernate) not working properly.
- Dual monitor not working.
My current laptop is ThinkPad R61. I’m quite impressed with it’s Linux compatibility. Linux community for ThinkPad is a very strong one. But I just wonder that: Is there any cheap laptop series those come with good Linux compatibility? If there’s one, then I can recommend it to my friends and I think many Blognone’s readers will buy it.
You can tell about your experience or what you heard about what: work-out-of-box, work-with-hacking, or not-working-at-all.
Linux notebooks?
Submitted by sajalkayan on 20 June, 2008 - 21:54. tags:Today I had finally taken the brave decision to buy a new notebook and ventured to fortune tower.
I was very very dissapointed to see that no notebook (> 2 Ghz ; ~ 2 Kg) came without windows. Why must a linux user buy a windows licence which would never be used.
Have I missed some brands?
If this is the case, then how do Linux users in Thailand put up with this? Paying for Windows license and not using it…. is it an effort trying to neutralize Thailand’s piracy rate? ;)
As result of which im gonna order my notebook from dell or lenovo in the States and someone will bring it over in August. Thai Government lost some taxes due to this stupidity by other brands.!

Firefox 3 Usability Survey
Submitted by mk on 22 May, 2008 - 06:38. tags:I think English forum is quite silent so I post to this one instead of Thai Forum.
As some of you might know, I’m running a Firefox 3 Usability Survey. Actually it’s my Human-Computer interaction homework but I want to use real world example and contribute something back to Firefox. After talking with some of Mozilla guys, they agree that I should send the result back to them as independent analysis from 3rd party.
Now there are more than enough participants for my homework but I think I still need more, a lot more, for the Mozilla version. So if you’re currently Firefox 3 user, have nothing to do or get tired of something, and want to participate in open source community in some way, I then invite you to do this fairy short survey. All three forms can be accessed from the link above.
Thai IT jobs - Whats the scene like?
Submitted by sajalkayan on 19 April, 2008 - 20:13. tags:I am quite curious to know about the job market in IT for Thai people.
We are a struggling start up and wont be hiring any IT staff in the near future, but am keen to know whats going on, be prepared with the reality when we actually decide to hire.
Could anyone enlighten me on the salaries expected by Thai people for the following skills(speak English - moderately)?
- PHP/mysql - skill intermediate
- Drupal developer - Making sites, moderate module hacking
- Graphics Designer - photoshop... illustrator... - making artwork for web and print
- Flash animater - Simple stuff... maybe clubbed with 3.
For an experienced Thai designer/programmer, does it pay well to work as a freelancer? or they would rather work for a company to ensure a stable income?
Are there university students interested to work as interns(นักศึกษาฝึกงาน) also? learning tricks of the trade on the job?
Normally are staff/interns for web development comfortable to work at small companies or they look for huge big name companies? Personally I feel there is much more self development at smaller companies where the employee does a variety of jobs as compared to the same job again and again in the bigger companies.

There are:
- Solaris 10 OS Strategies Report
- Technical Whitepaper: The Solaris 10 Advantage: Understanding the Real Cost of Ownership of Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Identity Management Strategies Report
- Technical Whitepaper: Reducing Identity Management Costs through a Reuse-oriented Model
It might be useful to explore the role of identity management in terms of improving agility, and to think critically how its important to the firms in reaching revenue with world-wide competition.
