แอปเปิลได้ทยอยแจก ZFS Read/Write Developer Preview 1.1 ให้กับนักพัฒนาโปรแกรมที่ได้ลงทะเบียนไว้กับทางบริษัทในอาทิตย์นี้

ก่อนหน้านี้แอปเปิลได้ออกมายืนยันว่า Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) นี้จะไม่มีการนำ ZFS ไปใช้เป็นระบบจัดการไฟล์หลักแต่อย่างใด แม้ว่าทางซันออกมายืนยันว่าจะมีการนำ ZFS ไปใช้แน่นอน ทางแอปเปิลได้แค่บอกว่า Leopard นั้นทำได้แค่อ่าน ZFS ได้อย่างเดียว (Read-Only) และจะไม่สามารถทำการแก้ไข สร้าง หรือลบไฟล์บนระบบ ZFS ได้เลย แต่ ZFS Read/Write Developer Preview 1.1 นี้ทำให้ Leopard มีความสามารถที่จะนำระบบจัดการไฟล์ ZFS ไปใช้ได้อย่างเต็มประสิทธิภาพนั่นเอง

ZFS ได้ถูกอธิบายว่าเป็นระบบจัดการข้อมูลรูปแบบใหม่ที่จะทำให้ระบบที่เรากำลังใช้อยู่นั้นกลายเป็นระบบที่ล้าสมัยไปทันที

ถ้ามัน สร้าง/อ่าน/เขียน ได้ทั้งบน Mac/Windows ก็ดีสิ
จะได้หายปวดหัวกับ NTFS/FAT32/HFS+ เสียที

NTFS - Win อ่านเขียนได้แต่แมคเขียนไม่ได้
FAT32 - Win + Mac ทำได้หมดแต่ใช้ไฟล์ใหญ่เกิน 4GB ไม่ได้และยังมีปัญหากับระบบที่ใหญ่กว่า 32GB
HFS+ - Win มองไม่เห็น Mac ทำได้หมด ... เฮ้อ

แต่ก็เคยเกิดปัญหา อยู่ๆก็ mount NTFS drive ไม่ได้ซะดื้อๆ เซ็งเลย เอิ้กๆ :P
