จากที่เคยบอกว่าจะออก IE 7 โดยเน้นด้านความปลอดภัยเป็นหลัก ตอนนี้เริ่มมีข่าวรั่วออกมาบ้างแล้ว ที่สำคัญเลยคือ IE 7 จะมีแท็บครับ นอกจากนี้สนับสนุนโดเมนเนมภาษาต่างชาติ (International Domain Name) ,กราฟฟิก PNG แบบโปร่งใส (เมื่อก่อนทำไม่ได้), ตัวอ่าน RSS ในตัว และมีแนวโน้มว่าจะสนับสนุน CSS2 เสียที
