Full-Stack Developer
to support the Groots project. Groots has been exploring innovative and more efficient ways to collect field data to address and solve questions and challenges in GIZ projects and beyond. As its first solution, Groots developed a chatbot during the Smart Energy Hackathon in Bangkok. The tools to collect data and its visualization will be increasingly important for the development sector. It holds the promise to engage less privileged target groups and allow them to create value and improve living conditions.
We are now taking the Groots project one step further by scaling our activities. The Groots team will develop solutions such as chatbots for different applications and sectors over the coming year.
The Full-Stack Developer will take a key technical role in the team. You will be responsible for the full cycle development, including design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and modification of the data collection tool and websites that present collected data from layout to function. You will strive to create visually appealing products that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation. You will be in a hands-on development role while also managing the integration of different parts of external technical support. You will work in a demanding role, a highly international team and in a startup-like atmosphere while benefiting from GIZs worldwide presence and networks. Groots has a long-term perspective and is growing fast - this is an opportunity to shape an exciting business unit within GIZ.
Tasks and Responsibilities
•You will collaborate with the team members to taking responsibility over driving improvements to our technology, design and develop new services
•You will maintain the production environment and collect and make sense of usage data
•You are deploying, monitoring, maintaining, and improving the services
•You will build and track metrics to ensure high quality results display (web development, dashboards)
•While you have a strong background in software development yourself, you will also manage external support to deliver the products we seek to build
•You will influence and drive product vision and lead the design of our systems.
•The position requires constant communication with colleagues

Basic Qualifications and Skills:
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
•Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
•Minimum of 2 years experience in web development projects or proven track record of solid related works
•Expertise and hands on experience with front-end and back-end development including web and mobile applications
•Experience in designing, setting-up and querying relational databases
•Understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
•Ability to make technical suggestion and decision
•Willingness to learn and have a can-do attitude
•Good communication skills in English language
Good-to-have:
•Facebook Messenger or other messaging platform API knowledge
•Experience in planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products
•Eager to learn and learn fast, enjoy a fast-paced environment
•Self-directed, demonstrate leadership potential and a team player
•Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
•Experience with scalable distributed systems and service oriented architectures
•Ability to drive innovation
The position is based in Bangkok. Compensation will be competitive and in line with local standards. This will be a fixed-term contract, starting as soon as possible and running until March 2019 (with possibility of extension).
