Microsoft Thailand would like to invite you to an afternoon discussion with Bill Hilf General Manager of Platform Strategy at Microsoft. Bill is responsible driving Microsoft's platform strategy efforts across the company. Bill's primary focus is to champion platform initiatives that cross these groups, while leading long-term strategy planning in the Windows Server and Tools organization. In this role, Bill regularly engages with the field and worldwide regions to provide a direct channel for customer and community feedback. This interaction enables customer and community input to be incorporated within Microsoft's forthcoming products and technologies.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Bill led IBM's Linux/Open Source Software technical strategy at a world-wide level for the Emerging and Competitive markets organization, in addition to his direct customer interaction as a senior enterprise architect. Bill has been involved with Open Source Software (OSS) for over twelve years, and is an IEEE Distinguished Visitor on the subject of OSS. Prior to joining IBM, Bill was Vice President of Engineering for eToys, where he helped build one of the premier ecommerce businesses on the Web. Previously, he worked as a software architect for multiple Silicon Valley-based software companies, such as CNET Networks and Black Sun Interactive. Bill is a graduate of Chapman University Graduate School.

Recent activities include the launch of the Port 25 (http://port25.technet.com/) web site that provides insight and a forum for discussion on Microsoft's OSS lab and work on interoperability. Bill speaks around the world on issues of Open Standards and Interoperability in mixed OSS and Microsoft environments and recently was a keynote speaker at LinuxWorld 2006. Bill is a well known and active member of the IT and open source communities and has worked hard to create an open and productive dialog via community forums such as Port 25, Slashdot and community meetings such as this.

This will be an informal meeting where Bill will share some of his insights from the lab, the insights he has gained from his meetings with customers and community groups around the world and then we will open things up to a question and answer session on anything and everything about Microsoft, Open Source, Open Standards and Interoperability.

This meeting will be open to the public. Next week we will provide a web site for registration as this will allow us to make sure we are prepared for the right number of people. I will send the registration information out the week of April 17th. In the meantime please feel free to send me an email letting me know you'd like to attend and I'll make sure I send you a link to the registration when it's ready. Please feel free to forward this mail.

Date: Sunday April 23 Time: 3:00 PM until the questions are finished... Location: Microsoft (Thailand) Limited 37th Floor, CRC Tower, All Seasons Place 87/2 Wireless Road, Bangkok
