Course Description

This course focuses on principles and practices of self­-service business intelligence, and understanding the way self-service BI enables and empowers BI users to perform BI functions more efficiently and effectively.  It discusses the functional process of self-service BI that includes discovering, getting and transforming data from data sources, designing data models for business data analysis, building interactive and responsive BI reports and visualization. Practices with the self-service BI tools using Power BI, SQL Server Mobile Report Publisher and BI for Excel will be performed in this course. In addition, it discusses and explores data analytics with DAX and SQL Server Analysis Service Data Mining Add-in for Excel. Guidelines of self-service BI implementation and tool selection criteria are also discussed.
