ปีที่แล้ว SoftBank จับมือกองทุนรัฐบาลซาอุฯ ตั้งกองทุนเทคโนโลยีขนาดมหึมา 2.5 ล้านล้านบาท (70 พันล้านดอลลาร์)

ความคืบหน้าล่าสุดของกองทุน SoftBank Vision Fund ตอนนี้ระดมเงินได้แล้ว 93 พันล้านดอลลาร์ และตั้งเป้าระดมให้ได้ครบ 100 พันล้านดอลลาร์ภายใน 6 เดือน

นักลงทุนหลักในกองทุนนี้คือ SoftBank และ Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (PIF) ส่วนนักลงทุนรายอื่นๆ ที่เข้ามาเพิ่ม มีทั้ง Apple, Foxconn, Qualcomm, Sharp และกองทุน Mubadala Investment Company of the United Arab Emirates ของสาธารณรัฐอาหรับเอมิเรตส์

กองทุนนี้จะลงทุนในเทคโนโลยีหลากหลายสาขา ที่ระบุชื่อได้แก่ IoT, artificial intelligence, robotics, mobile applications and computing, communications infrastructure and telecoms, computational biology and other data-driven business models, cloud technologies and software, consumer internet businesses, financial technology แต่ก็สามารถขยายไปยังสาขาอื่นๆ ได้ด้วย
